How it started

How it started

In 2019, I joined Seismic to lead the vision for the launch of Seismic University. My initial interest did not lie in the education platform. However, I was fascinated by the sales enablement space. The more I thought about the challenge of rolling out this product, the more I was sold.

Observing the competitive landscape

In studying our competitors, we noticed that our competitors’ education platforms were outdated and had terrible user experiences. With better knowledge of the competition landscape, we concluded that we could corner the market from a visual and user experience standpoint. We wanted to focus on having content that was not outdated and easy for the audience to digest. We started by creating prototypes with actual content and design to see if our in-house sales, product, and customer success team could use the platform, understand the scope and gather feedback from them. We also broadened our research by looking at non-competitor platforms with educational platforms for inspiration.

While working on this project, we had a preferred design and experience we wanted to showcase. However, one of the challenges I faced with designing the University website was the limitation in what we could design and develop due to the LMS. Therefore, I had to work closely with the developer in real-time to solve problems.

Results

Results

We created the brand elements and design system, launching the first Seismic University platform in five months. Within one year, we had:

  • 300 Seismic Certified customers

  • 9,675 course completions

  • 4,349 total learns
